March 23 – - Another week and another solid race for Jeff Gordon. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the long-awaited victory he had been looking for, but instead a 4th place finish in the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Gordon struggled with a tight handling car on longer runs, which made contending for the victory a near impossibility. Nevertheless, he scored his fourth top-10 finish of the season and extended his points lead. The race was dominated by Kyle Busch who led more than 350 of the 500 laps en route to his second win of the season
