Jeff took the checkered flag in the 3rd of 4 segments in Saturday nights Sprint All Star Race.  Segment 3 featured a great duel between Jeff and Kyle Busch.   Jeff would go on to wreck in the final segment after some hard 3 wide racing.

May 17 – – With $1,000,000 on the line in the All-Star Challenge, Jeff Gordon held nothing back and went for the win with a daring move in the final 10-lap segment. Finishing second in this race was simply not an option. Gordon took the checkered flag in the third segment and led the field to the green flag for the final 10-lap shootout. On the second lap, he wound up getting loose on the inside of a three-wide battle for the lead and spun into the frontstretch wall. While the night ended in disappointment, the overall strong effort during the event bodes well for next weekend’s Coca-Cola 600.

May 10 – – Jeff Gordon’s 5th place finish in the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway wasn’t the coveted victory, but provided that solid finish that he needed after a few subpar finishes over the last few weeks. Gordon kept his lead in the series standings as his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Mark Martin claimed his second victory of the season. Gordon holds a 29 point lead over Tony Stewart at the top of the standings. More importantly, he is 337 points ahead of 13th place — putting him comfortably in position to qualify for the Chase for the Championship.

May 2 – – Jeff Gordon knew he didn’t have the car to compete with Kyle Busch for the victory at Richmond International Raceway. Crew chief Steve Letarte gambled by keeping Gordon on the track during a late caution period to allow him to inherit the lead– focusing solely on a victory. However, a series of caution flags allowed Busch to close in and eventually pass Gordon for the lead with 50 laps to go. Older tires hindered Gordon’s efforts and he faded to 8th place at the finish. Nevertheless, he re-assumed the series points lead after losing the top spot at Talladega.

May 1 – – Jeff Gordon expects a battle in Saturday night’s race at Richmond International Raceway where he’ll start on the outside of the front row. But his opponent might not be another competitor; rather, it might be himself. He has complained of back pain over the past few months and expects to fight through pain in the race. “This will be a tough weekend because of the g-forces and the braking that you use here and the long runs that you have here,” Gordon said. Gordon underwent an MRI earlier in the week and has a better picture on his back problems. “I’ve got some information that I’m just not ready to release yet or admit to,” Gordon said. “When I know how I’m going to treat it, I’ll let you know. I don’t believe it’s anything serious.”
